You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve:
6x%2B%282%2F3%29y+=+9
2x%2B%282%2F3%29y+=+7 Subtract the second equation from the first equation to eliminate the y.
4x+=+2 Divide both sides by 4.
x+=+1%2F2 Now substitute this value of x into either of the two given equations to solve for y. The second equation will work nicely.
2%281%2F2%29%2B%282%2F3%29y+=+7 Simplify.
1%2B%282%2F3%29y+=+7 Subtract 1 from both sides.
%282%2F3%29y+=+6 Multiply both sides by the multiplicative inverse of 2%2F3, that's 3%2F2
%283%2F2%29%282%2F3%29y+=+6%283%2F2%29
y+=+9
The solution is: (1/2, 9)
