You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A 34% acid solution was mixed with a 66% acid solution to produce 216 liters of a 42% acid solution. How much liters of each solution was mixed?
;
Let x = amt of 66% acid solution (in liters)
:
It said the total will be 216 liters, therefore:
(216-x) = amt 34% solutions
:
A typical mixture equation:
.66x + .34(216-x) = .42(216)
:
.66x + 73.44 - .34x = 90.72
:
.66x - .34x = 90.72 - 73.44
:
.32x = 17.28
x = 17.28%2F.32
x = 54 liters of the 66% acid solution
then
216 - 54 = 162 liters of the 34% solution
:
:
check;
.66(54) + .34(162) = .42(216)
35.64 + 55.08 = 90.72
