Question 150369: If you can help me figure the points to plot, I can plot the points without any problem.
Plot the graphs of the following functions. Scan the graphs and post them to the Facilitator along with your response.
1. f(x)=7x
2. f(x)=4x - 3
3. f(x)=(1/5)x
4. f(x)= log3x

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I'll do the first two to help you get started

# 1

Looking at y=7x we can see that the equation is in slope-intercept form y=mx%2Bb where the slope is m=7 and the y-intercept is b=0 note: y=7x really looks like y=7x%2B0

Since b=0 this tells us that the y-intercept is .Remember the y-intercept is the point where the graph intersects with the y-axis

So we have one point

Now since the slope is comprised of the "rise" over the "run" this means
slope=rise%2Frun

Also, because the slope is 7, this means:

rise%2Frun=7%2F1

which shows us that the rise is 7 and the run is 1. This means that to go from point to point, we can go up 7 and over 1

So starting at , go up 7 units

and to the right 1 unit to get to the next point

Now draw a line through these points to graph y=7x

So this is the graph of y=7x through the points and

# 2

Looking at y=4x-3 we can see that the equation is in slope-intercept form y=mx%2Bb where the slope is m=4 and the y-intercept is b=-3

Since b=-3 this tells us that the y-intercept is .Remember the y-intercept is the point where the graph intersects with the y-axis

So we have one point

Now since the slope is comprised of the "rise" over the "run" this means
slope=rise%2Frun

Also, because the slope is 4, this means:

rise%2Frun=4%2F1

which shows us that the rise is 4 and the run is 1. This means that to go from point to point, we can go up 4 and over 1

So starting at , go up 4 units

and to the right 1 unit to get to the next point

Now draw a line through these points to graph y=4x-3

So this is the graph of y=4x-3 through the points and
