You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the five odd consecutive integers if the sum of the first and the fifth is one less than three times the fourth?
First of all the odd integers would be;
x, x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8
Now we take the first and the fifth and the fourth;
x, x+6, x+8
So our equation would be;
x+(x+8)=3(x+6)-1
Add like terms and distribute the 3;
2x+8=3x+18-1
2x+8-2x=3x+17-2x
8=x+17
8-17=x
-9=x
So our first odd integer would be -9;
What's the next four?
=)
