Question 149990: Hello there,
I am currently working on an optional summer packet for school, and I came across this problem. I have the answer available to me, but I don't understand how to get the answer. If you could explain to me how to simplify this expression, I'd greatly appreciate it.
+sqrt%28+-48y%5E3x%5E4+%29+
Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
As a reminder, let's review a basic rule of square roots:
+sqrt%28+4x+%29+
Then, I can factor the 4 as:
+sqrt%28+2%2A2%2Ax+%29+
If you see a "pair" of terms, you can you can "pull it out" thus:
+2%2Asqrt%28+x+%29+
.
For your problem then:
+sqrt%28+-48y%5E3x%5E4+%29+
+sqrt%28+-%284%2A4%2A3%29yyyx%5E2x%5E2+%29+
Notice, the pair of "4's", "y's", and "x^2".
+4x%5E2y%2Asqrt%28+-3y+%29+
