Question 14917: Sabrina has $4.10 consisting of eight more quarters than dimes. Find the number of quarters and dimes that Sabrina has. Answer by stanbon!(97) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let number of dimes be "x".
Then number of quarters is x+8
Value of dimes is (10)x cents
Value of quarters is (25)(x+8)= (25x + 200) cents
Equation:
Value of dimes + Value of quarters = 410 cents
10x + 25x+200 = 410
35x = 210
x = 6 (number of dimes)
x+8 = 14 (number of quarters)
