other positive number=3x-----------------because it is three times the other
difference=8
Therefore,
3x-x=8----------------------------------because their difference is 8
Combine like terms (the x's)
2x=8
Divide both sides by 2
x=4
one positive number=x
other positive number=3x
Plug in x
First number=(4)
Second number=3(4)
So,
First number=4
Second number=12
