You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the ratio of the arabians to mixed breeds in the herd was 2 to 19. it there were 420 horses in the herd, how many were arabian?
First of all the ratio would be;
We rewrite the info and to include total;
A=2
M=19
T=21
Since the question is asking for the total Arabians we will use;
2%2F21
Now we are told the total number of horses is 420, so we would have;
2%2F21= A%2F420
We cross multiply;
2(420)=840
21A;
21A=840
A=40
Hope you get it!
=)
