Multiply it by 8/5 so that you end up with 8x-16y=-8. Then multiply all that by negative one and get -8x%2B16y=8. Then add that expression to the first one and get -8y=24. Divide by -8 and get y=-3. Once you have this, substitute the y value into the original equation 5x-10y=-5. Get 5x%2B30=-5 subtract 30 from each side and get 5x=-35 Divide by 5 and get x=-7. Wanna check? Plug x and y back into the original 8x-24y=16 and get-56%2B72=16. It's true! So x=-7 and y=-3. The ordered pair format is (x,y), so plug in your solutions for x and y and get (-7,-3).
