All you have to do to solve this problem is use the last equation first. Solve for y. First subtract .5 from both sides and then divide each side by .4. You should end up with y=61.25. Then plug y in the first original problem and get x%2B61.25=100. Then subtract 61.25 from 100 to get x. You should get x=38.75. Therefore y=61.25 and x=38.75.
