Question 147108: I'm having trouble with the negative and positive of a problem.
The problem is:
4-(-2cubed)/5squared-(-2cubed)
I know that 5 squared is 25, -2cubed is-2x-2x-2, but I can't figure out if it what ends up - and what ends up +. I know to do the ( ) first.
Thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4-(-2cubed)/5squared-(-2cubed)
Is it %284+-+%28-2%5E3%29%29%2F%285%5E2-%28-2%5E3%29%29?
%28-2%29%5E3 = %28-2%29%2A%28-2%29%2A%28-2%29
= %2B4%2A%28-2%29
= -8
So it's %284-%28-8%29%29%2F%2825+-%28-8%29%29
= 12/33
= 4/11
When multiplying (or dividing) minus signs, and even number will be positive, and and odd number will be negative.
