Question 146799: Which of the following best describes the graph of
f (x)- {x+4.x≤2}
{3x, x>2}
Note: Whole line parenthesis, I did not know how to draw. The 3x is directly below the x + 4 etc...
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let's graph the 1st equation y=x%2B4:

Graph of y=x%2B4

Now only graph the portion of the line that is less than or equal to 2 compared to the x-axis

So the new graph looks like this:
Graph of y=x%2B4 with the restriction x%3C=2. Note: there is a closed circle at the endpoint.

Let's graph the 2nd equation y=3x:

Graph of y=3x

Now only graph the portion of the line that is greater than 2 compared to the x-axis

So the new graph looks like this:
Graph of y=3x with the restriction x%3E2. Note: there is an open circle at the endpoint.

Now let's graph the equations together:

Graph of y=x%2B4 with the restriction of x%3C=2 (red). Graph of y=3x with the restriction of x%3E2 (green).
