Question 146575: Rationalize the denominator an simplify.
3 / sqrt (x) + 5
three divided by sqrt (x) plus five.
I started by mutiplying the demoninator of sqrt (x) + 5 to the numerator and the denominator. Next I distributed the numerator and squared the denominator. Not sure where to go after that. Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3+%2F+%28sqrt+%28x%29+%2B+5%29
There might be other methods, but the simplest is to multiply thru by the "conjugate", a term that actually has a meaning to do with imaginary numbers.
Multiply thru by 5+-+sqrt%28x%29
-----------------
%283%2A%285+-+sqrt%28x%29%29%29%2F%28%285+%2B+sqrt%28x%29%29%2A%285+-+sqrt%28x%29%29%29
= %2815+-+3sqrt%28x%29%29%2F%2825+-+x%29
