Question 146555: 1.)what is equation?
2.)what are the parts of an equation
3.)what is linear eqution
Answer by nabla(475) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1. The use of symbols to indicate that two quantities are equal. ie 1=1; x+5=0; etc.
2. Parts of the equation are what make it up (obviously). These are the left side, the equal sign, and the right side of the equation. Terms on either side can involve variations of variables or numbers.
3. Linear equations provide a unique solution of one variable for every number of another variable given. Consider y=x+1. For every x number we choose we will get a value for y. Thus we call the x variable the independent variable. The y variable will be the dependent variable, because it depends on the x value. You could also solve the equation for x and reverse the terminology: y-1=x means for every y value we choose we get an output of x.
