A chair manufacturing factory determines that the cost (y) to make x number of chairs in a month equals $25,000 + $80x. The $25,000 are fixed costs that the company pays to keep the factory open whether they make chairs or not. Then in addition, the materials and direct labor to produce a chair are $80 per chair. The $80 figure is called variable costs.
The company sells the chairs for $205 each. How many chairs does the company have to sell each month to break even? The total monthly revenue from chair sales in y (dollars)=$205x.
You have two equations: one for cost and one for revenue. Break even occurs when revenue and cost are equal. Plot the two equations and determine what number of chairs makes the company break even (where the lines cross). I need to figure out the number of chairs to break even and the revenue at this number of chairs.
Please help if possible!!! I'm lost! Thank you so much. This question is from textbook Algebra For college students
