You can put this solution on YOUR website! When you see ":", it means a ratio. You could write it like a fraction. For example, if you saw
a:b
you could rewrite it as:
a/b (that's a over b)
.
4:(x-6)=2:6
So, rewriting as above:
4/(x-6)=2/6
multiplying both sides by: 6(x-6) we get:
6(4) = (x-6)2
24 = 2x - 12
36 = 2x
18 = x
.
To check, plug it back in to the original:
4/(x-6)=2/6
4/(18-6)=2/6
4/12=2/6
