Question 14406: Hi my name is Amanda and my mother decided to homeschool me this year is there anyway I can teach myself Algebra because my mother is a stubborn person and has neglected to teach me ANYTHING! I have always been ahead my whole life and now I feel so stupid not learning anything. Is there anyway any of you could help me. PLEASE!

Hi Amanda,
I homeschooled my son when he was in 6th and 7th grade. When it came to algebra he actually tought himself. Sure he had questions, and would get stuck on problems, but I was able to help him through those. So, yes, you actually can teach yourself, but you will need someone to help you through sometimes, it would help you A LOT if you knew someone who knows algebra. But it sounds like you are a great achiever and willling to try and that is what it takes the most of. My son used the book Algebra1 by Saxon, which most homeschoolers do.
