Question 143969: Pluto has an average distance from the Sun of 5.913 x (10 to the 9th power) km. Earth has an average distance
from the Sun of 150,000,000 km.
If the speed of light is 3.00 x 105 km per second, what is the shortest amount of time it takes
for light to travel from Pluto to Earth?
Please help....The right answer is 1.921 x (10 to the 4th power)....I need to see the details on how this was solved. I'm getting a headache!!
Thanks,
Bill

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
shortest distance (and time) is when both planets (Pluto still a planet?) are on the same side of the sun

distance __ (5.913x10^9)-(1.5x10^8)=5.763x10^9

time __ (5.763x10^9)/(3.00x10^5)=1.921x10^4
