rate = 3 mph ; distance = x ; time = x/3 hrs

time + time= 1 hr.
x/4.5 + x/3 = 1
3x + 4.5x = 3*4.5
7.5x = 13.5
x = 1.8 miles

Time to the store = x/4.5 = 1.8/4.5 = 0.4 hr. or 24 minutes
