You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Sure!
Given: weekend's calls=$0.01/min
weekday's calls=$0.08/min
Total calls for 1 month=549=$21.03
Let's assigned "x" = total minutes talk on weekends
and "y"= total minutes talk on weekdays
So, x+y=549 calls, right?
In this eqn we get, y=549-x -------- mark eqn 1
Also we have to realize when we multiply the total calls by the rate per minute we get the total charge right?
So,
(0.01)(x) + (0.08)(y) = $21.03, right? ----- mark eqn 2
Subsituting the value of y in eqn 1 to eqn 2,
(0.01)(x) + (0.08)(549-x) = $21.03
(0.01)(x) + 43.92 - (0.08)(x) = $21.03
43.92 - 21.03 = 0.08x - 0.01x
+highlight%28x+=+327%29+ total minutes for the weekends
For y go back eqn 1, y= 549-327
highlight%28y=+222%29 total minutes for weekdays
In doubt? simply go back eqn 2,
(0.01)(327) + (0.07)(222) = 21.03
3.27 + 17.76 = 21.03
$21.03 = $21.03, cool!
It just make more sense to have more minutes on the weekends because it's cheaper right?
Thank you,
