Which is larger, $1,500 or 6% of $26,000?

6% of $26,000 is the same as saying 0.6 times 26000.

Do the arithmetic and you will have the value of the tax discount.

So, subtract 1500 from 26000, multiply the result by 1.06 to get the value of the $1500 discount deal and then compare that to the value of the 'I'll pay the sales tax' deal which is a straight 26000.
