Question 137772: I solved this problem but I don't think I did it right. I think I am suppose to use a fomula but I couldn't get far with it. Please help!
Alice saw 6 white rabbits every 10 days. How many rabbits did she see in 25 days?
First, I just said well 10 and 10 is 20 so if she saw 6 rabbits in 10 days then she saw 12 rabbits in 20 days plus 3 for five days left makes 15 rabbits.
Then, I thought maybe I am suppose to use a formula. So I tried 6/10=x/25
But I didn't know what to do next.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You're on the right track.
You set up the ratio correctly.
Thinks of it as 6 rabbits is to 10 days, like x rabbits is to 25 days.
6%2F10=x%2F25
If we multiply both sides by 25 (the multiplicative inverse of 1/25), you get
25%2A%286%2F10%29=25%2A%28x%2F25%29
150%2F10=cross%2825%29%2A%28x%2Fcross%2825%29%29
x=15
15 rabbits
You could have also cross multiplied,
6%2F10=x%2F25
10x=6%2A25
10x=150
x=15
Same result.
