in the 2 hours working alone, the 2nd person completes 1/6 (2/12) of the job __ this means that 5/6 remains

let x="time together" __ (x/8)+(x/12)=5/6 __ multiplying by 24 __ 3x+2x=20 __ 5x=20 __ x=4


in the 6 hours the 2nd person works, they complete 1/2 (6/12) of the job

in the 4 hours the 1st person works, they complete the other half (4/8)
