Question 13617: I am trying to determine what the rule is when there is a - outside of the brakcets.
In one problem, I am multiplying -%28x-5%29%2F5 by the LCD 15... and it's -3x-15.
In another problem, I am multiplying -%28x-2%29%2F4 by the LCD 20... and it's -5x%2B10.
What is the rule? Why is it -15 but +10?? I am perplexed again, but if I can figure this out in words I think I'll be OK. Can you help?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+15%2A%28-%28x-5%29%2F5%29 Divide out the 5 and you get -3%28x-5%29 = -3x%2B15.

20%2A%28-%28x-2%29%2F4%29 Divide out the 4 and it's -5%28x-2%29+= -5x%2B10.
