Question 135957: I am looking for feedback as to whether this was done correctly.
Find an equation in slope-intercept form passing through the points (2,5) and (7,-3).
m = -3 - 5/7 – 2 = -8/5
5 = -8/7 (2) + b
35 = 16 – 7b
35 + 16 = (7b – 16) + 16
51 = 7b – 16 + 16
51 = 7b
51/7 = b
y = -8/5x – 51/7

Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
m+=+%28-3-5%29%2F%287-2%29+=+-%288%2F5%29 So far, so good.
5+=+-%288%2Fhighlight%287%29%29+%282%29+%2B+b Here's a problem, the number in the box should be 5.
Remember, you can always take your final equation and use your original points to verify.
You get your equation y=mx%2Bb.
Plug in the x, it should give you the same y as you originally had.
If it does, you're correct.
If it doesn't, something's wrong.
Re-calculate and post another question if you're unsure.
