3x^2-12/x^2-x-6 =
3(x^2-4)/((x-3)(x+2))=
(3(x-2)(x+2))/((x-3)(x+2))) (x+2) in the numerator and denominator cancels
3(x-2)/(x-3) The variable, x cannot be equal to 3
