Q. If 16 men and 8 boys can do a piece of work in 5 days and 12 men and 22 boys can do it in 4 days. Compare the daily work done by a man with a boy.
Answer is 3:2

The work rate of the 16men and 8boys together is 1/5 job/day
The work rate of the 12men and 22 boys together is 1/4 job/day

EQUATIONS:
16m+8b = 1/5
12m+22b= 1/4
------------------
I used the matrix function on a TI calculator to get:
m = 3/320 and b = 1/160
Then m/b = [3/320]/[1/160] = 3/2
