Question 135660: I have a problem that says write the equation of the line that passes through the points (3,-7) & (-2,1). Use slope/intercept form. I thought with a problem like this you would use the point-slope form?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! write the equation of the line that passes through the points (3,-7) & (-2,1). Use slope/intercept form.

y= mx+b
m = (1--7)/(-2-3) = 8/-5
--------------------------
You now have y,x, and m; solve for "b":
1 = (-8/5)(-2) + b
b = 1 - (16/5)
b = -11/5
---------------
EQUATION:
y = (-8/5)x - (11/5)
