You can put this solution on YOUR website! Use the factor theorem to decide whether the second polynomial is a factor of the first. f(x) = x^3 + 4x^2 + x - 6; x - 1

 x-1 will be a factor of f(x) is f(1)=0
 Using synthetic division you get:
 ------------------------
 1)....1....4....1....-6
 .......1....5....6..|..0
 Remainder = 0, so f(1)=0, and x-1 is a factor of f(x)
