Question 135479: If the graph of y=2^x is transformed to y=3(2)^(-1/4x-1)+1, what are the coordinates of the new focal point? I think it may be (-4,4) but I am not sure. Can someone please help me??

You can put this solution on YOUR website! If the graph of y=2^x is transformed to y=3(2)^(-1/4x-1)+1, what are the coordinates of the new focal point? I think it may be (-4,4) but I am not sure. Can someone please help me??
---------------
Rearrange:
(1/3)(y-1) = 2^[(-1/4)(x-4)]
VS=3,vT=1; HS=-4,HT=4
Map: (x,y) goes to (HSx+HT,VSy+VT)
Your problem:
(x,y) goes to (-4x+4,3y+1)
-------------------
The focal point on y=2^x is (0.1)
(0,1) goes to (-4*0+4,3*1+1)
(0,1) goes to (-4,4)
You are correct.
