: A farmer raises only goats and chickens on his farm. All together he has 47 animals with a total of 118 legs. I am supposed to write a system of equations and an augemented matrix to find out how many of each animal he has. I then have to change the problem for the farmer's neighbor who has 118 animals with a total of 47 legs and writ a system of equations and augmented matrix for her. I am completely lost. You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A farmer raises only goats and chickens on his farm. All together he has 47 animals with a total of 118 legs. I am supposed to write a system of equations and an augemented matrix to find out how many of each animal he has.
Farmer EQUATIONS:
# of animals: g+ c = 47
Leg equation: 4g+2c = 118
Ans: 12 goats ; 35 chickens
--------------------------------
I then have to change the problem for the farmer's neighbor who has 118 animals with a total of 47 legs and writ a system of equations and augmented matrix for her. I am completely lost.
Neighbor EQUATIONS:
# of animals: g + c = 118
# of legs...: ?
-----------
Comment: I don't know how 118 animals can only have 47 legs.
