You can put this solution on YOUR website!
bus 1-8, gals used 5/8/12/15/18/20/22/25,
miles driven..... 80/100/180/225/280/290/320/375
a. write a linear equation that models the relationship between miles driven d and gallons of gas used g.
d(g) = 15.0462g - 3.8476
-----------------------------
b. use the equation to predict the number of miles a bus could go on 10 gallons of gas.
d(10) = 15.0462*10 - 3.8476 = 146.61 miles
-----------------------------------------------
c. use the equation to predict the number of gallons of gas required to drive a bus 250 miles.
250 = 15.0462g - 3.8476
15.0462g = 253.8476
g = 16.8712 gallons
------------------------------
d. what do the vales of m and b in your equation d=mg+b tell about the fuel efficiency of the bus fleet.
m tells you how many miles you get from each gallon of gas.
b tells you how many miles you can travel with no gas---it is false
but is part of the generated linear equation based on the data.
