We are having trouble factoring on this problem:
12y^2-24y-72
= 12(y^2-2y-6)
Factoring y^2-2y-6 with the quadratic formula:
y = [2 +- sqrt(4 -4*1*-6)]/2
y = [2 +- sqrt(28)]/2
y = [1 +- sqrt7]
Factors are 12, (y-(1+sqrt7)), (y-(1-sqrt(7))
