Question 134221: Hello-Please help!
I am just not grasping the concept of functions.
Find the requested value.
f(3) for f(x)={3x+1, if x<1
3x, if 3 (less than or equal to sign)x (less than or equal to
sign) 8
3-5x, if x>8
Everything after the equals sign is enclosed by one bracket. THANK YOU very much!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Remember, f(3) is asking "what is the value of f(x) (or y) when x=3?"

Notice how the only inequality that has the value x=3 in the interval is the second equation 3x since the inequality is 3%3C=x%3C=8

So simply plug in x=3 into 3x

3%283%29=9

So f%283%29=9
