Let x=number of red dresses
Then x+34=number of blue dresses
So, our equation to solve is:
x+x+34=200 subtract 34 from each side
x+x+34-34=200-34 collect like terms
2x=166 divide both sides by 2
x=83----------number of red dresses
x+34=83+34=117 number of blue dresses

83+117=200
200=200
and
x+34=83+34=117
