You can put this solution on YOUR website!
given: the height of a triangle is 2 more than twice the base. the area is 20 square feet
Find the base
Area of a triangle is given as bh%2F2
h = (2b + 2)
20+=+%28%28b%29%282b%2B2%29%29%2F2
40+=+2b%5E2+%2B+2b
20+=+b%5E2+%2Bb
0+=+b%5E2+%2B+b+-+20
0+=+%28b+%2B5%29+%28b-4%29
potential ansers are b = 4 and b = -5.
Since the base cannot be -5, it must be 4
If the base is 4, then the height is (2b+2) = 10
Check you answer. What is the area of a triangle with a base = 4 anbd a height of 10. Answer? 20. Check!
