Question 132414: Beatrice can wallpaper a room in 8 hrs.... What amm i suppose to do? All i can think of write is "good job for beatrice! Want me to throw a party for you?!"
Also Marty read a novel in 10 hours... i don't get it what aare they asking me to do?! Please help me! Or i'm just going to write down "I can read the Hp and the deathly hallows in 10hrs and 7 min! Ha beat that!"...seriously my teacher will say i'm being a smart ass...

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Generally, there is more to the problem than what you have stated. It is usually something like, "Beatrice can wallpaper a room in 8 hours and Billy can wallpaper the same room in 12 hours, how long would it take the two of them working together to wallpaper the room?"
The answer would be found by saying that Beatrice can wallpaper 1/8 of a room in one hour and Billy can wallpaper 1/12 of a room in an hour, so together they can wallpaper 3/24 + 2/24 = 5/24 of a room in 1 hour. In other words, the two of them together can wallpaper a room in 24/5 hours, which is the same as 4 and 4/5 hours, and since 12 minutes is 1/5 hour, you could say that it would take the two of them 4 hours and 48 minutes.
If all you have is "Beatrice can wallpaper a room in 8 hours" you can't even say "Good job, Beatrice," because you have nothing against which to compare her performance. (Could be that the average professional wallpaper hanger can complete the job in 4 hours, in which case I would only hire Beatrice if she was charging half of the hourly rate for wallpapering).
