Question 132409: Okay, I asked this one Friday and nobody got back to me so I am asking it again. Here is the problem...
Solve the ration expression x+3/5=6[-]4(x+2)/10
I know all the numerators have to have a LCD and I know how to do that, but once I do that and solve out the problem I am not getting the right answer. If you could help me I would appreciate it!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

x%2B3%2F5=6-4%28x%2B2%29%2F10 Start with the given equation

%2810%29%28x%2B3%2Fcross%285%29%29=%2810%29%286-4%28x%2B2%29%2Fcross%2810%29%29 Multiply both sides by the LCM of 10. This will eliminate the fractions (note: if you need help with finding the LCM, check out this solver)

10x%2B6=60-4%28x%2B2%29 Distribute and multiply the LCM to each side

10x%2B6=60-4x-8 Distribute

10x%2B6=-4x%2B52 Combine like terms on the right side

10x=-4x%2B52-6Subtract 6 from both sides

10x%2B4x=52-6 Add 4x to both sides

14x=52-6 Combine like terms on the left side

14x=46 Combine like terms on the right side

x=%2846%29%2F%2814%29 Divide both sides by 14 to isolate x

x=23%2F7 Reduce

Answer:
So our answer is x=23%2F7 (which is approximately x=3.28571 in decimal form)
