You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f%28x%29=%281%2F4%29%28x%2B8%29%5E2%2B7 Start with the given equation

f%28x%29=%281%2F4%29%28x-%28-8%29%29%5E2%2B7 Rewrite x%2B8 as x-%28-8%29

Notice how f%28x%29=%281%2F4%29%28x-%28-8%29%29%5E2%2B7 is in vertex form f%28x%29=a%28x-h%29%5E2%2Bk where h and k form the vertex. In other words, the vertex is the point (h,k)

Since h=-8 and k=7, the vertex is the point (-8,7)

In general, the line of symmetry is the equation x=h. So in this case the line of symmetry is x=-8
