Question 131867: Q. Suppose 6 cups of granola that is 25% raisins is added to 12 cups of granola that is 10% raisins. What is the percent of raisins in the resulting mixture? Use "x" for the variable, set up an equation and solve.
My answer.
6(.25)+12(.10)=18+x
1.5+1.2=18+x
2.7=18+x
I just cannot seem to justify an answer because I know that it cannot be a negative

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
6*.25+12*.10=18*X YOU NEED TO MULTIPLY THE 18 BY X.
1.5+1.2=18X
2.7=18X
X=2.7/18
X=.15 OR 15% IS THE RESULTING MIX.
