Let x=number of days it takes them working together to paint 1 wall.
mar paints at the rate of 1/5 wall per day
leave paints at the rate of 1/3 wall per day
together they paint at the rate of 1/5+1/3 or 3/15+5/15=8/15 wall per day, so our equation to solve is:
(8/15)*x=1 (1 wall, that is) multiply each side by 15
8x=15 divide both sides by 8
x=1 7/8 days --------------------------------number of days it takes them working together to paint 1 wall
