%284x%2B6%29%28x%2B6y%29+ Notice how the common factor is x%2B6y. So this means that we can combine like terms. Note: this is very similar to something like x%2B2x=%281%2B2%29x=3x



2%282x%2B3%29%28x%2B6y%29+ Factor the GCF 2 from 4x%2B6
