solve 24/(x-3) = 72/(x+3)
24(x+3) = 72(x-3)
(x+3)=72(x-3)/24
(x+3)=3(x-3)
x+3 = 3x-9
2x = 12
x=6

To check the solution x=6 is correct.
24/(6-3) = 8 = 72/(6+3)
