You can put this solution on YOUR website! Julie is mixing orange juice. She adds water to the concentrate until she has 2 liters of juice which is 60% concentrate. She then adds some leftover juice which is 75% concentrate. If the result is 65% concentrated juice, how many liters of the stronger mix did she add?
----------
60% juice DATA:
Amt. = 2 liters ; Amt. of orange = 0.6(2) = 1.2 liters
---------------
75% juice DATA:
Amt. = x liters ; Amt of orange = 0.75x liters
---------------
Mixture DATA:
Amt = x+2 liters ; Amt of orange = 0.65(x+2) = 0.65x+1.3 liters
====================
EQUATION:
orange + orange = orange
1.2 + 0.75x = 0.65x+1.3
0.10x = 0.1
x = 1 liter (amt. of 75% solution in the mixture)
===================================
