use the formula: part/total=%/100 The total number must follow the
word "of"
The part number is next to the word "is".
4/50=%/100 You now have a proportion. Cross multiply.
50%=400 Replace % with any variable.
50x=400 Now divide both sides of the equation by 50.
x=8
