I cannot find information on this question anywhere online or in my text.
Explain how the expression a^2 + b^2 and (a+b)^2 differ?
I have no idea how they differ and cannot figure out how to find the info. I must be looking in the wrong place, have spend 2 days on this question.

Let a=4 and b=5
a^2+b^2=16+25=41
(a+b)^2=(4+5)^2=9^2=81
