Question 130165: QUESTION 1
a) How much is the total amount after 3 years of investment if RM5000 was invested at the
interest rate of 2% per annum, compounded every half a year?
b) Find the annual interest rate if the total amount after 5 years of investment is RM248,832
where the principal amount was RM100,000 and compounded annually.
Question 2
Using product and quotient rule, find the differentiation for f(x):
f(x)=x^2+2x/x^2-4
Question 3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
QUESTION 1
a) How much is the total amount after 3 years of investment if RM5000 was invested at the
interest rate of 2% per annum, compounded every half a year?
A(t) = P(1+r/n)^(nt)
A(3) = 5000(1+0.02/2)(2*3)
A(3) = 5000(1.01)^6
A(3) = 5000*1.0615...
A(3) = 5307.60
--------------------------
b) Find the annual interest rate if the total amount after 5 years of investment is RM248,832 where the principal amount was RM100,000 and
compounded annually.
248,832 = 100,000(1+r/1)^(1*5)
2.48832 = (1+r)^5
Take the 5th root to get:
1+r = 1.2
r = 0.2
r = 20%
---------------------
Question 2
Using product and quotient rule, find the differentiation for f(x):
f(x)=x^2+2x/x^2-4
f'(x) = (x^2-4)(2x+2)-(x^2+2x)(2x)]/(x^2-4)^2
------------------
Question 3
Using the chain rule, find dy/dx when y=(3-x^-3)^2
dy/dx = 2(3-x^-3)(3x^-4)
