Since the exponent is negative, you flip the whole thing being raised to that power. So this is the same as 32^(3/5). Now look at the 3/5. That means we want the 5th root raised to the third power. You can do the 3rd power raised to the 5th root, but that will give you much bigger numbers to work with. Any time you are asked for the 5th root, or something ridiculously big like that, unless you need a calculator, try 2. Any other integer raised to the 5th power will be MUCH bigger than 32. Sure enough, 2^5=32 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32), so the 5th root of 32 is 2. Now you just need to raise 2 to the 3rd power and get 8 (2, 4, 8). So the answer is 8.
