Let x=smaller number
Then x+34=larger number
Now we are told that:
(x+34)+30=3x or
x+34+30=3x subtract x from both sides
x-x+64=3x-x collect like terms
64=2x divide both sides by 2
x=32 smaller number
x+34=32+34=66 larger number

34=34
and
66+30=3*32
96=96
