You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What is the difference between 2x^2+4xy-3 and x^2-2xy-4
-------------------------------------------
(2x^2+4xy-3) - (x^2-2xy-4)
= 2x^2 + 4xy -3 -x^2 + 2xy + 4
Gather "like" terms to get:
= 2x^2-x^2 + 4xy+2xy -3+4
= x^2 + 6xy +1

The difference between two quantities is the result of subtracting one from the other. Specifically, the difference between 5 and 3 is 2 because 5 - 3 = 2.

For your situation, the difference between red%282x%5E2%2B4xy-3%29 and green%28x%5E2-2xy-4%29 is:

red%282x%5E2%2B4xy-3%29-green%28%28x%5E2-2xy-4%29%29

Now distribute the minus sign and remove the parentheses:
2x%5E2%2B4xy-3-x%5E2%2B2xy%2B4

And collect like terms:
red%282x%5E2%29%2Bgreen%284xy%29-blue%283%29-red%28x%5E2%29%2Bgreen%282xy%29%2Bblue%284%29
x%5E2%2B6xy%2B1

Done.
